Atlanta Public Schools to Host Body Camera Town Hall

Atlanta Public Schools (APS) wants to hear from its stakeholders about its plans to purchase body-worn cameras for its school resource officers.

The school system, which received a grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to purchase the cameras, will be holding a town hall meeting at Benjamin E. Mays High School’s Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 30. Mays High School is located at 3450 Benjamin E Mays Dr SW.

Atlanta Public Schools Police Department Chief Ronald Applin and APS Executive Director of Safety and Security Dr. Marquenta Sands Hall will speak at the meeting and field comments from attendees.

The BJA grant was also awarded to Clayton and DeKalb County schools to allow them to purchase body cameras for their resource officers.
